One Sheffield Many Cultures and Community Day this weekend

FURD will be taking part in two big public displays of unity this weekend, and everyone is invited to join us.

'One Sheffield, Many Cultures' is a free family festival celebrating Sheffield's unity taking place on Saturday 19th May in Barkers Pool, Sheffield city centre from 12-4pm.

This year’s One Sheffield Many Cultures festival will see ten local schools battle it out to be named the best live act. As well as singers, dancers, bands and samba drummers to see, there will be lots to do throughout the day, with ‘Streetkick’ football provided by FURD, facepainting, Swamp circus and much more. A great cause – celebrating peace, unity and diversity. Your compere for the day is Burngreave Community Radio’s Aisha Special K. The festival will also be opened by the new Lord Mayor, Cllr John Campbell.

One Sheffield, Many Cultures is an umbrella organisation promoting unity and opposing racism, bigotry and prejudice. For more information, follow the link below.

On Sunday 20th May, FURD is working with Sheffield United to stage the club's annual Community Day at Bramall Lane. Running from 1-4pm, this is also a free event for all the family designed to promote good relations between Sheffield United and its local community.

Come and visit the FURD stall in the John Street suite and learn more about our projects, play Streetkick or watch young people's football tournaments on the pitch. There will also be an Olympic family relay, entertainment, food and stalls. Entry is via John Street or Cherry Street red gates.
