Streetkick receives presidential support

The President of Trinidad and Tobago visited Football Unites' Streetkick game ahead of his countries clash with England last Thursday 15 June 2005 in Nuremberg.

President George Maxwell Richards joined campaigners from Football Unites, Racism Divides and our friends from Kick It Out to lend his support to the fight against racism in the game and underline the importance of using the World Cup to celebrate diversity. Football Unites are one of the teams touring Germany with Streetkick as part of FARE's (Football Against Racism in Europe) World Cup anti-racist activities.

Before leaving Streetkick to attend the game President Maxwell Richards said,
“Football is the perfect tool to reach out to people from all over the world. I hope the remainder of the project goes well and the campaign gains more support on a global level as a result.”

Elsewhere, the FARE World Cup programme has also received high profile support from Schalke 04 Bundesliga star and Bosnia & Herzogovina international Zlatan Bajramovic, who visited the Streetkick being run by our German colleugues and FARE partner Dem Ball egal in Hamburg ahead of the Argentina v Holland game.

The street kick initiative is taking place in co-operation with the support of the co-ordination office of German fan projects (KOS) and the World Cup LOC in Germany.
