Alternative World Cups!

For those of us unlucky enough to be overlooked for selection for our national teams in the World Cup, opportunities are coming up in the form of the Fair Play World Cup in France and the Anti-Racist World Cup in Italy.

The ´Coupe du Monde du Fair Play´ takes place in Nantes, France, from 24th-30th June. There´ll be a tournament for 13-16-year-olds from different countries accompanied by strong anti-racist messages, played in a spirit of tolerance and and respect.

Then, the ´Mondiali Antirazzisti´ is taking place in Montecchio, Italy, from 4th-7th July, billed as a ´multicultural feast and mini-football tournament against racism´. Around 130 7-a-side teams are playing, including 3 teams representing FURD´s volunteers, staff and local ethnic minority communities. For more information visit the website www.uisp.it/warc.
