80 delegates from 13 countries unite to tackle racism

Around 80 delegates from 13 countries begin arriving in Sheffield today for a European-wide conference aimed at sharing problems and ideas in the fight against racism and discrimination in and around football. Representatives are attending from a wide range of football fansī groups and anti-discrimination groups, including the Mahatma Ghandi Human Rights Organisation from Hungary, the Never Again Association from Poland, the African Football Club from Switzerland, Barmy Army from Germany, Faninitiative from Austria, Forum degli Immigrati from Italy and the European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation. The number and diversity of organisations attending demonstrates the depth of concern about the problems of racism across Europe, and the level of determination to build a strong network to fight racism.
